HISTORY: On May 9, 2009 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas IBF & IBO world light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson defended his titles against Antonio Tarver. Dawson prevailed winning a 12 round unanimous decision. Dawson came in ranked as the # 2 light heavyweight in the world by The Ring Magazine. Tarver, a 5-1 underdog, was ranked # 4 by the same publication. The bout, originally scheduled for March 14th, was postponed due a hand injury suffered by Dawson. HBO reportedly paid $3.2 million for the television rights to the fight.
