Jack Dempsey was born on June 24, 1895 in Manassa, Colorado. He defeated Jess Willard on July 4, 1919 to win the World Heavyweight Title and held the title until September 23, 1926 when he lost to Gene Tunney. Dempsey posted victories in his career over Fred Fulton, Billy Miske, Georges Carpentier, Luis Firpo and Tommy Gibbons. Dempsey announced his retirement in February of 1928 with a final record of 64-6-9 with 49 KO's. Dempsey opened a famous restaurant in New York on Broadway during his retirement. Offered here is is a circa 1940's bar display endorsed by Jack Dempsey.
This is a Jack Dempsey endorsed bar display. It has a bell atop which is operated by a lever at lower right and still works. Rests on a wooden base. The bell sits atop a cardboard display with the words "Have your next round with Jack Dempsey." Some rust to the bell. There is some chipping to the cardboard. Irregularly shaped to 12" x 13." Extremely rare. the first we have seen.
