On Friday, September 14, 1923 at the Polo Grounds in New York heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey met notable challenger Luis Firpo of Argentina with the title at stake. Both fighters were down in the fight and Dempsey survived being knocked out of the ring to come back and stop Firpo in the second round in defense of his title. One of the most exciting fights in boxing history. Offered here is a scarce original, first generation, large format photograph of Jack Dempsey taken at his training camp on September 6, 1923 as he prepared for his fight with Luis Firpo.

It pictures memebers of Dempsey's training camp, all listed in upper left corner and including Dempsey his trainer luvadis and manager jack kearns. Has two creases on left side. Edge and corner wear. Clear, sharp image. 11" x 14." rare, especially in this size.
