Jack Dempsey was born on June 24, 1895 in Manassa, Colorado. He defeated Jess Willard on July 4, 1919 to win the World Heavyweight Title and held the title until September 23, 1926 when he lost to Gene Tunney. Dempsey announced his retirement in February of 1928 with a final record of 64-6-9 with 49 KO's. Offered here is an original broadside advertising Jack Dempsey's appearance at a baseball game in upstate New York while he was heavyweight champion.
This original, undated broadside advertises Dempsey's appearance at a baseball game played between the Saranac Lake College Players and the Grogan Athletic Club of Troy, located near Albany, New York. This broadside is paper. Print is bold. Minor foxing from age. Several tears along the right edge with no paper loss. Small crease on lower left corner area. 8 1/2" x 11." Extremely rare appearance broadside while Jack Dempsey was heavyweight champion dating it between 1919 and 1926.
