HISTORY: Jake LaMotta fought Robert Villemain on December 9, 1949. LaMotta lost this fight by decision after 10 rounds. "Robert Villemain officially has evened his score with Jake LaMotta. Now the scrappy little Frenchman wants the middleweight champion to put his title on the line. Villemain, a 5 foot 6 1/2 inch bundle of perpetual motion, poured it on the slowed up Bronx Bull last night to win a unanimous 10 round decision in MSG. That squared accounts for the 25 year old Parisian who licked Jake in the Garden last March but lost the decision. The verdict, one of the rankest in years, resulted in the suspension of the two officials who voted for LaMotta." -Associated Press. Unofficial AP scorecard - 7-3 Villemain. Attendance - 9,599. Gate - $33,476. Post fight comments: "Too much of a layoff. I should've had more work. I've no excuses." -Jake LaMotta."I want LaMotta to fight me for the championship now. I won the last time, too, but this time I get the decision. I am very happy to win. I will bring back the championship for my country and Marcel Cerdan." -Robert Villemain.
