On January 9, 1942 Joe Louis defended his title for the second time against Buddy Baer. The fight was at Madison Square Garden in New York. The two had fought six months earlier and ended in a controversial disqualification of Baer when his manager wouldn't leave the ring protesting what he claimed was a punch by Louis after the bell. This time it was no contest. Baer was knocked out in the very first round and retired after the fight. Offered here is a scarce, original Pictorial News Of The Day poster dated January 5, 1942 (4 days before the fight) which depicts both fighters at their training camps preparing for the fight.
