Joe Louis was born on May 13, 1914 in Lafayette, Alabama. On June 22, 1937 he won the World Heavyweight Title from James J. Braddock. He retired after losing to Rocky Marciano on October 26, 1951. His final record was 63-3. Joe Louis had the longest reign of any heavyweight champion spanning eleven years. His victories included Jack Sharkey, Max Baer, Max Schmeling, Billy Conn, and Jersey Joe Walcott. Offered here is an original, dual pin souvenir of Joe Louis dating to the 1940's.
This is a red, white and blue ribbon with two red boxing gloves attached. On each side is an original Joe Louis pinback, each of which dating to the 1940's. The pins are clean with no pitting or scratches. No foxing. The ribbon has some fraying at top. Bold color and clear images. Pins picturing Louis are 1 3/4" in diameter. Souvenir is 3" in diameter.
