LOUIS, JOE-TONY GALENTO WIRE PHOTO (1939-2ND ROUND)

On June 28, 1939 World Heavyweight Champion Joe Louis defended his title against Tony Galento at Yankee Stadium in New York. Galento, a hard punching rough and tumble sort, knocked Louis down early in the fight. Louis recovered and administered a ferocious beating on "Two Ton" Tony before stopping him in the fourth round. Offered here is an original wire photo depicting Louis knocking Galento down in the 2nd round.
