MCGLINCHEY, ED CABINET CARD (EARLY 1880'S)

Ed McGlinchey was a 145-155 lb. fighter who fought from 1878 to 1883. Born in 1855 he fought out of the Bridgeport, Connecticut area. In his career he mostly fought exhibitions and gave instruction on boxing. His exhibitions included Mike Cleary, Mike Donovan, Billy Madden and Pete McCoy. McGlinchey died in 1883. This is an original cabinet card of McGlinchey in fight pose. Bold, clear image. Clean front and back. Name written in fountain pen at top. Name of photographer, John Wood of New York, printed on lower mount. Two top corners have small chips. Not creased. 4 1/8" x 6 1/2." Exceptionally rare image.
