Archie Moore was born on December 13, 1913 in Benoit, Mississippi. He won the World Light Heavyweight Title on December 17. 1952 from Joey Maxim. He fought on several occasions for the World Heavyweight Title but was never successful. He retired after an exhibition match with Nap Mitchell on August 27, 1965 with a final record of 183-22-9 with 129 KO's and 1 no contest. Presented here is a signed boxing license application from 1959.
Archie Moore has boldly signed this boxing license application from 1959 in blue ink. The application is 8 1/2" x 13" and has 3 horizontal creases where it was folded. The bottom crease goes through the top of the signature. There is some soiling in the upper left hand corner with holes from staples. There are 2 diagonal creases in the bottom corners with small rips along the edges. The bottom edges are also creased with 2 small tears.
