MUGABI, JOHN "THE BEAST"-DUANE THOMAS SOUVENIR PIN (1986)

On December 5, 1986 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas John "The Beast" Mugabi fought Duane Thomas for the vacant WBC light middleweight title. Thomas prevailed and stopped Mugabi in the third round. Mugabi took a brutal accidental thumb in his left eye and could not continue. In a strange twist, before the fight Mugabi argued against using thumb tabbed gloves and sadly got his wish. Offered here is an original souvenir pin from this event.
This is an original, metallic souvenir pin which pictures Mugabi and names the fighters. Pin firmly attached to back. Clean front and back. No dents. Bold color and print and bold, clear image. No rust or pitting. Scarce, the first we have offered. 3" diameter.
