ROBINSON, SUGAR RAY-JACKIE WILSON WIRE PHOTO (1943)

On February 19, 1943 at Madison Square Garden in New York future world champion Sugar Ray Robinson fought "California" Jackie Wilson in the main event. Robinson struggled, but won a majority ten round decision over Wilson. Offered here is an original wire photo which depicts Wilson down as the referee restrains Robinson from inflicting further damage.
