Regular price $85.00
On April 12, 1972 at the Paul Sauve Arena in Montreal former world middleweight champion Luis Rodriguez, fighting in his last fight, took on Donato Paduano in the main event. Paduano won a ten round split decision. “Rodriguez probably won the first one but that was it. By the fifth round Paduano was wading in and Rodriguez was doing his best to keep him at arms-length with left jabs. From that point on, Paduano found it easier setting up his right cross with jabs, and started to connect against the ex-champ. Rodriguez would try the odd lunging flurry, but most of the time he appeared off balance and usually it turned out to be a clumsy piece of work. By the end of the fight, Paduano was connecting almost at will with left-right combinations and Rodriguez trying for a knock-out punch, continuously left himself open. Many of his best punches were blocked.†(Source: Bob Morrissey, “Cry not for Donato: It was easy,†The Montreal Gazette, April 13, 1972, p. 17.)
