HISTORY: On July 31, 1965 at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico heavyweights Jose Torres and Tom McNeeley fought in the main event. Torres prevailed winning a unanimous ten round decision. Also on the show world heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali boxed an exhibition bout with Jimmy Ellis.  "Jose Torres, the world light heavyweight champion, won a unanimous 10 round decision over Tom McNeeley of Boston in a non-title bout Saturday night. McNeeley took a nine count in the 1st round and thereafter kept pushing Torres into the ropes to stay at close range. These tactics brought a continual roar of boos from the estimated crowd of 10,000 at Bithorn Stadium. At the end the ring was littered with crumpled paper cups and empty beer cans." -Associated Press. This bout was originally announced as a majority decision win for Torres until referee Ramon Fournier's card was examined and found to be scored 96-92 for Torres instead of the draw that was originally announced. World heavyweight champ Muhammad Ali boxed four exhibition rounds on this card. Two rounds with Jimmy Ellis and two rounds with Cody Jones.
