HISTORY: Heavyweight Champion James J. Corbett fought Bob Fitzsimmons on March 17, 1897 in Carson City, Nevada. This was a much anticipated fight which had been previously postponed. Fitzsimmons knocked Corbett out in the 14th round with a famous punch to the solar plexus to win the Heavyweight Championship of the World. Offered here is a very scarce Staurday Globe of Utica, New York complete newspaper dated March 27, 1897 which features a color insert pictures of the Robert Fitzsimmons on the front page and coverage about Corbett requesting a rematch.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is a complete 8 page newspaper with photo of the Fitzsimmons on the cover with coverage. Folds at center, and corners. Color and print remain bold. Clean inside and out. Edge and corner wear. No writing. 17" x 22." A rare newspaper from this significant fight which would be a beautiful display piece in any collection.
