Regular price $200.00

HISTORY: On September 18, 1968 at Empire Pool, Wembley, London, United Kingdom European Heavyweight champion Karl Mildenberger defended his titles against British Empire Heavyweight Champion Henry Cooper. Cooper won the fight by disqualification in the 8th round.

"Henry Cooper, 34 year old British heavyweight champion, grabbed the European title from Germany's Karl Mildenberger on an 8th round DQ at London's indoor Wembley Stadium Wednesday night. Cooper jabbed effectively with his left and was well ahead on points when Italian referee Nello Barroveccio disqualified the German for butting. Cooper, sporting a bad cut over his right eye, said his sights were now set on the WBA crown worn by Jimmy Ellis." -Associated Press. Post fight comments: "The referee only stopped the fight after he saw the cut on Cooper. It was not Karl's head that caused the damage - I saw his left hand do it. No one likes a disqualification and we want a return." -Wolfgang Muller, Mildenberger's manager. "It's great to get my European title back after all these years. Now I'd like to meet Jimmy Ellis." -Henry Cooper.
