Larry Holmes was born on November 3, 1949 in Cuthbert, Georgia. He won the WBC Heavyweight Title from Ken Norton on June 9, 1978. He defeated Muhammad Ali on October 2, 1980 to win the World Heavyweight Title. He recently came out of retirement to defeat Butterbean Esch. Presented here is a souvenir, circa 1978, political pin of Larry Holmes supporting his local congressman Fred Rooney. The Honorable Fred Rooney was a congressman from Pennsylvania's 15th District, of which Larry Holmes was a constituent.
