MISSION ON MAIN STREET MULTI SIGNED BOOK (1955-BY HELGA BENDER HENRY

This is an original, first edition, hard cover book entitled MISSION ON MAIN STREET by Helga Bender Henery. Copyright 1955. The mission on main street was right next door to the Mission Street gym in Los Angeles. The book was published in 1955. The trainers had a copy of the book that they kept at the gym and when celebrities would come in to see fights or for charity events which they held at the gym to benefit the mission, they would get them to sign the book. All were signed inside the gym. The person they signed it to "Jimmy" was young Jimmy Gambina who later in life was a consultant and trainer to Sylvester Stallone and several other boxing films as well as the Rocky films and was a trainer in the gym. He was a teenager who was a regular in the gym in those days and is still alive. The book was purchased from one of the retired owners of the gym.
