On November 30, 1956 heavyweight contenders Floyd Patterson and Archie Moore fought for the vacant heavyweight title at Chicago Stadium. The title became vacant when Rocky Marciano retired as undefeated champion. Patterson knocked Moore out in the 5th round to win the title.
