On June 26, 1959 at Yankee Stadium in New York hevayweight champion Floyd Patterson defended hsi title against the big powerful Swede Ingemar Johansson. Johansson staggered Patterson and knocked him down seven times in the third round before the fight was stopped. Ingemar Johansson was now heavyweight champion. Offered here is a scarce, first generation, large format photograph depicting Floyd Patterson and Jose Torres at Patterson's training camp for this bout. Dated May 30, 1959.
