On February 25, 1964 Cassius Clay fought Sonny Liston for the World Heavyweight Title. Clay won the title from Liston after Liston retired in the 7th round citing an injured shoulder. After this fight Clay changed his name to Muhammad X and then Muhammad Ali. It was the Ring Magazine 1964 Fight of the Year. Presented here is an original wirephoto of Sonny Liston looking down at the canvas in the ring after losing the title. It is an Associated Press wirephoto.
This original wirephoto from the first Ali-Liston bout is 7" x 9 1/2." The corners are slightly soft and there are small creases along the edges. The photo is clean with no rips or tears.
