HISTORY: Rocky Marciano was born on September 1, 1923 in Brockton, Mass. On September 23, 1952 he won the World Heavyweight Title from Jersey Joe Walcott. He retired as champion on April 27, 1956 with a final record of 49-0 with 43 KO's. Rocky Marciano died tragically on August 31, 1969 in an airplane crash. Presented here is an original, first generation photograph taken by the notable SALAS Studio of New York depicting Rocky Marciano shaking hands with the founder and editor of The Ring (Magazine) Nat Fleischer.
