On July 21, 1938 at Madison Square Garden in New York lightweights Al "Bummy" Davis and Bernie Friedkin fought in the main event. Davis stopped the favored Friedkin in the 4th round. Davis knocked down Friedkin with a left hook to the jaw in the 4th round. Friedkin rose at the count of eight, but was unsteady and slumped back to the canvas. The referee stopped the bout. Friedkin had been a 2-to-1 favorite. This bout had originally been scheduled for Dexter Park two weeks before, but had been cancelled four times because of rain. Offered here is an extremely rare, original, official program for this event.
This original, official program consists of 48 pages complete plus 4 page insert which includes fighter photos and biographies. Tight binding. Not creased. The insert is lightly scored in pencil and has some light staining in upper left area. Minor edge and corner wear. 8 1/2" x 11."
