On May 14, 1946 at Harrigay Arena in London Freddie Mills, the British version world light heavyweight champion, fought Gus Lesnevich, the American version world light heavyweight champion, in a fight to decide the true champion. Lesnevich prevailed stopping Mills in the 10th round. Lesnevich floored Mills twice in the second round and twice again the 10th, before the referee stopped the fight. In between these two rough rounds, Freddie did extremely well. "This (was) one of the greatest fights in the history of British boxing." (Johnny Sharpe, in The Ring, August 1946, page 21). Offered here is a scarce official program to this event.
