HISTORY: On August 17, 1996 at the Sports Stadium in Albuquerque, New Mexico WBO Super Flyweight champion Johnny Tapia defended his title against Hugo Soto. Tapia prevailed winning a unanimous 12 round decision. On the undercard future champion Diego Corrales stopped Cesar Morales in the 2nd round.
