TYSON, MIKE & MARVIN HAGLER BOXING WRITERS PROGRAM (1986)

Mike Tyson won the Heavyweight Title in 1986 with a dominating knockout over then champion, Trevor Berbick. Tyson went on to unify the Heavyweight Titles with wins over champions,James "Bonecrusher" Smith and Pinklon Thomas. Marvin Hagler was born on May 23, 1954 in Newark, New Jersey. He won the World Middleweight Title on September 27, 1980 from Alan Minter. His last fight was on April 6, 1987 with Sugar Ray Leonard. Presented here is the 1986 Boxing Writers program which honored Hagler as the Fighter of the Year and Tyson as the Rookie of the Year.
