Regular price $1,250.00
On December 19, 1947 at the Olympia Stadium in Detroit world welterweight champion Sugar Ray Robinson defended his title against Chuck Taylor. Robinson prevailed stopping Taylor in the 6th round. Taylor reportedly entered the bout with a 23-fight professional record, however this figure was based on his incomplete record in the The Ring Record Book, and he actually had engaged in several more fights than 23. Taylor made an aggressive and plucky fight of it, but he was outclassed. He took a nine-count in round six but arose, only to be put down again and the referee then stopped the fight. Offered here is an original, official program for this event.
This is an original, 4 page, official program which pictures both fighters and includes a bout listing. Neatly scored. Robinson fight written neatly on front cover. Tight binding. Crease in lower left corner. Minor edge and corner wear. 8 1/2" x 11."
