ROSS, BARNEY-JIMMY MCLARNIN WIRE PHOTO (1934)

On May 28, 1934 at the Madison Square Garden Bowl in Long Island City, New York Jimmy McLarnin and Barney Ross fought for the World Welterweight Title. McLarnin, in his first defense of the title he won a year earlier, lost a very close 15 round decision and the title to Ross. Presented here is an original wirephoto from this bout showing Ross after knocked down McLarnin. The photo had been rushed to the San Francisco Examiner.
This original wirephoto from the Ross-McLarnin bout is 5 3/4" x 8 1/2." There are some marks on the photo from where it was used in print. No rips or tears.
