DEMPSEY, JACK AS REFEREE FULL BOXING TICKET (1935)

On June 17, 1935 at the State Armory in Willimantic, Connecticut former world heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey appeared as referee of amateur bouts held that day. Willimantic, Connecticut is home to Eastern Connecticut University, which was called the Willimantic State Normal School in 1935. It's not improbable that the school may have been involved in an athletic competition with a nearby army unit, and that Jack Dempsey - retired in 1935 - would have volunteered to referee it. Offered here is an original, full, unused ticket for this event.
This is an original, full, unused ticket which names Jack Dempsey as referee and includes the date and venue. Bold color and print. Stub firmly attached. Clean front and back. Not creased or torn. Slight corner wear. 2" x 5 1/2."
