BACKUS, BILLY-RICKY ORTIZ ON SITE POSTER (1970)

On January 30, 1970 at the War Memorial in Syracuse, New York future world welterweight champion Billy Backus defended his New York State welterweight title against Ricky Ortiz, a fighter he fought to a draw one year earlier. Backus stopped Ortiz in the 8th round. Ortiz suffered a injured right hand, and was unable to continue after the 8th round. Offered here is a rare on site poster to this event.
This is an original, cardboard, on site poster which pictures both fighters. Bold color and print. Bold, clear images. Not creased. Spot stain at lower center edge. Edge and corner wear with a few small tears and no paper loss. Minor soiling. 17" x 22 1/4."
