BAER, MAX-PAOLINO UZCUDUN REAL PHOTO POSTCARD (1931)

On July 4,1931 Max Baer met Paulino Uzcudun in a Heavyweight bout. Uzcudun won the bout by decision in 20 rounds of boxing. This is the "first heavyweight bout of any importance in Reno since [Jack] Johnson defeated [James] Jeffries July 4, 1910." Some 18,000 people attended, "virtually equaling the normal population of the city." New York Times. Jack Dempsey served as the referee. Presented here is a real photo postcard which depicts the crowd watching the fighters in action.
This is an original, real photo postcard. Unused with AZO stamp on reverse. Bold, clear image. Clean front and back. Not creased or torn. 3 1/4" x 5 1/2." Scarce postcard, the first we have offered.
