HISTORY: On March 14, 1956 at Chicago Stadium world welterweight champion Carmen Basilio defended his title against Johnny Saxton. Saxton won a unanimous 15 round decision to take the title. The fight was originally proposed for April 29, 1955 in Syracuse, but was postponed. Offered here is the original signed contract for the initially proposed fight and location. Contract signed by Carmen Basilio, his manager, John De John, and Billy Brown, a representative of the promoter. Signed and notarized on March 5, 1955.
