Georges Carpentier was born on January 12, 1994 in Lens, France. He won the World Light Heavyweight Title on October 12, 1920 in a bout with Battling Levinsky. He also held the European Welterweight, French Welterweight, European Middleweight, European Light Heavyweight, European Heavyweight and White Heavyweight Titles. He retired after an exhibition match with Jack Walker on January 11, 1927 with a final record of 88-14-6 with 1 no decision and 56 KO's. Offered here is an original souvenir postcard issued around the time of World War I depicting the beloved Frenchman Georges Carpentier knocking out the German Bill Kaiser (Kaiser Wilhelm).
Original coloured postcard titled 'A Fair Knock-Out'. It depicts the French boxer Georges Carpentier (1894-1975) knocking the German Kaiser "Bill" Wilhelm out in a boxing match. The flags of the major Allied forces of Belgium, England, France and Russia are in the upper left corner, with 'Bill Kaiser' laid strewn across the floor of the boxing ring, his boxing shorts in the colours of the German Imperial flag. Carpentier is shown wearing a sash of the French tricolour around his waist. Not creased or torn. Has been used. Bold color and print. Minor edge and corner wear. 3 1/2" x 5 1/2." A rare and very interesting item of propaganda.
