Georges Carpentier was born on January 12, 1994 in Lens, France. He won the World Light Heavyweight Title on October 12, 1920 in a bout with Battling Levinsky. He also held the European Welterweight, French Welterweight, European Middleweight, European Light Heavyweight, European Heavyweight and White Heavyweight Titles. Carpentier fought Jack Dempsey for the heavyweight title in 1921 in the first million dollar gate in boxing history, but was stopped by Dempsey. He retired after an exhibition match with Jack Walker on January 11, 1927 with a final record of 88-14-6 with 1 no decision and 56 KO's. Offered here is avery rare original poster of Georges Carpentier issued by Le Petit Parisean in 1921 promoting Carpentier's autobiography.
This promotional poster pictures Carpentier and has cameo shots of him with other fighters including Frank Klaus. Dtaed May 25, 1921, two months before his fight with Dempsey. Professionally linen backed. Color and images are bold. Generally clean. A paper poster with no crease or tears. Original folds are slightly evident.
