Georges Carpentier was born on January 12, 1994 in Lens, France. He won the World Light Heavyweight Title on October 12, 1920 in a bout with Battling Levinsky. He also held the European Welterweight, French Welterweight, European Middleweight, European Light Heavyweight, European Heavyweight and White Heavyweight Titles. He retired after an exhibition match with Jack Walker on January 11, 1927 with a final record of 88-14-6 with 1 no decision and 56 KO's. Offered here is an original wire photograph of Georges Carpentier training in O'Brien's Gym in New York on April 8, 1932 as he was preparing to comeback in th eheavyweight division.
