On April 1, 1952 at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles world lightweight champion Jimmy Carter defended his title against Lauro Salas. Carter won a very close 15 round unanimous decision in defense of his title. Carter was knocked down in the 15th round for a two-count.
