On September 28, 1811 at Thisleton, England British Champion Heavyweight Tom Cribb fought Tom Molineaux in a widely anticipated fight. Cribb had defeated Molineaux 10 months earlier in an exciting match setting up this rematch. Once again Cribb prevailed stopping Molineaux in the 11th round. This was Cribb's final match. Offered here is a hand colored etching of the match, done in the early 19th century and published by Walker and Knight. Entitled, "The Close Of The Battle or the Champion Triumphant."
This is an original 19th century hand colored etching. Color is vibrant. Slight fading at the bottom of the text, but still completely readable. Framed in a period frame of oak with a gilt fillet. Etching is 9 3/4" x 13 3/4" in a frame of 22" x 26." Exceedingly rare.
