Jack Dempsey was born on June 24, 1895 in Manassa, Colorado. He defeated Jess Willard on July 4, 1919 to win the World Heavyweight Title and held the title until September 23, 1926 when he lost to Gene Tunney. Dempsey announced his retirement in February of 1928 with a final record of 64-6-9 with 49 KO's. Jack Sharkey was born on October, 26, 1902 in Binghamton, New York. He won the World Heavyweight Title on June 21, 1932 from Max Schmeling. He retired after losing to Joe Louis on August 18, 1936 with a final record of 38-14-3 with 14 KO's. Presented here is a first generation antique photo of the fighters. The photo shows Dempsey as a promoter.
