"Henry Hank dropped Rory Calhoun in the 1st round Monday night with a left hook to the head. Calhoun took the mandatory eight count, the last five on his feet. They slugged it out in the 2nd and for awhile Rory was getting the better of it. But Hank unleashed a barrage climaxed by a devastating left hook. Then a left-right combination to the head put Calhoun on the Cow Palace deck. He got up, but was too wobbly to stay up. Referee Vern Bybee gave him a helping hand and called a halt at 2:50 of the 2nd round of a scheduled 10." -Associated Press.
