James J. Jeffries was born on April 15, 1875 in Carroll, Ohio. He won the World Heavyweight Title on June 9, 1899 from Bob Fitzsimmons. He retired after losing to Jack Johnson on July 4, 1910, his only loss, with a final record of 18-1-2 with 15 KO's. Presented here is a photo postcard of Jreffries training camp and there is a note on the back from Reba Boyer who was the niece of Jeffries.
