HISTORY: On March 24, 1950 at Madison Square Garden in New York future world heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano faced a tough obstacle in rugged Roland La Starza. Marciano prevailed winning a close ten round split decision. Under New York's supplemental scoring system referee Watson had Marciano winning 9-6, so Marciano was awarded a split decision. La Starza was down for a seven-count in round four, and Marciano lost the eighth round due to a low blow. Offered here is a rare, original, official program for this event.
FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original 48 page program which includes the 4 page insert with scorecard, and photos and biographies of the fighters. Not scored. Tight binding. One loose page and, of course, the insert is loose. Not torn. Crease in lower right corner. Clean inside and out. Minor edge wear. 8 1/2" x 11." Extremely rare program.
