Kid McCoy was born on October 13, 1872 in Indiana. He was ranked by Nat Fleischer as the #1 All Time Light-Heavyweight. He defeated Dan Creedon on December 17, 1897 to win the Middleweight Championship of the World. Kid McCoy went to a shop owned by his mistress' husband looking to kill him as well, but he was not present so McCoy took 11 hostages, shooting one in the leg who tried to escape. When his intended target failed to show up, McCoy fled until police apprehended him. Presented here is an original wire photo taken August 13, 1924 at the police headquarters after he was arrested.
