Tom Sayers was born on May 25, 1826 in Sussex, England. He won the Heavyweight Championship of England Title when he defeated William Perry on June 16, 1857. Presented here is a rare, first generation, antique photo of Sayers circa 1860 by Newbold.
This first generation, antique photo of Sayers measures 5 inches by 7 1/2 inches.The photo has been loosely mounted on a sheet of heavier stock paper.The top two corners have been cut off.There are two small tears on the bottom edges of the photo.There is a small tear on the top left of the photo.There is a small spot of glue residue at the left foot of Sayers.The image is vivid. Very rare.
