Mario "Marty" Servo (born in Schenectady, New York November 3, 1919, died in Pueblo, Colorado February 9, 1969) was the former world welterweight boxing champion. Servo began boxing in the mid-1930s. He became a professional boxer in 1938 and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1989. Servo had an impressive amateur career. He captured the Golden Gloves and Diamond Belt Featherweight Titles, and ended his career with an impressive record of 91-4.His pro record was an impressive 48-4-2. In 1946 he won the World Welterweight Title defeating Freddy Cochrane. Offered here is a Pennsylvania Boxing License for Marty Servo for the year expiring December 31, 1942. Servo used that license for his February 17, 1942 fight in Philadelphia against Lew Jenkins.
This is an official, original license. Servo's small picture is affixed to the reverse with a staple. Not creased or torn. Print is bold. Clean front and back. Minor staple stain on picture and a glue stain on back from mounting. 2 1/2" x 4."
