Simon,Abe Vintage Wirephoto 1942

: Abe Simon was born in Richmond Hill, New York. He began his professional boxing career on March 11, 1935 stopping Jim Dowling in two rounds. A big man at 6'4" and over 250 pounds Simon established himself as an important figure in the heavyweight division during the late 1930's and early 1940's. He twice challenged World Heavyweight Champion Joe Louis, but was stopped by Louis in one and disqualified in the other. Presented here is a vintage wirephoto of Simon before the Louis bout.
