HISTORY: Joe Tipman was born on June 7, 1883 in Baltimore, Maryland. He fought his first fight as a featherweight on June 4, 1899, a win over Kid Frog. Although never a champion Tipman fought some significant fighters including draws with George Dixon, Eddie Lenny and Kid Williams, a win over Joe Bernstein and a loss to Young Corbett II. He retired after a loss to Harry Scroggs on March 20, 1907 with a final mark of 43-15-9. Tipman ran Joe Tipman's Cafe in Baltimore after retiring and also handled some fighters including lightweight Al Britt. Joe Tipman passed away on January 17, 1966. 

Offered here is a signed fight contract for the April 5, 1916 bout between Al Britt and Kid Whitten in Baltimore which was won by 15 round decision by Kid Whitten. The contract is signed by Joe Tipman, Al Britt and Sammy Harris for the Eureka Athletic Club. Includes an envelope from Joe Tipman's Cafe. 

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original, one page, typed contract. Signed in fountain pen ink by Joe Tipman, Al Britt and Sammy Harris. Has several folds. Clean front and back. Edge wear on top border with a small tape repair on back. 8 1/2" x 11." Includes an envelope from Joe Tipman's Cafe which held the contract.
