Pancho Villa (Francisco Guilledo) was born in the Philippines on August 1, 1901. He began his professional career in the Philippines in 1919. On June 18, 1923 he knocked out Jimmy Wilde to win the World Flyweight Title. He defended that title four times successfully. On July 14, 1925 he died in San Francisco from blood poisoning caused by an ulcerated tooth. His final career mark was 88-9-5 with 22 wins by knockout and 3 no decisions. In addition to Wilde he posted victories over Mike Ballerino, Johnny Buff, Abe Goldstein, and Bud Taylor. Preeented here is an original antique photo of Villa against Frankie Genero in 1923 for the American Flyweight title.Genero won the bout by decision.
This antique photo measures 8 inches by 10 inches.The photo has a tear and a crease in the upper left corner.The other corners are soft.There is some minor wrinkling on the bottom edge.The back has a stamping and paper residue from the wire association.The image is clean.
