Bermondsey Billy Wells was born in London, England on March 17, 1897. He had his first professional fight on May 15, 1919 stopping Frank Moody in 4 rounds. In a career which lasted until March 4, 1932 he fought as a middleweight against notables including Pete Latzo, Dave Shade, Jock Malone Soldier Bartfield and Young Jack Thompson. Bermondsey Billy Wells has boldly signed this 8" x 10" antique photo in black ink. He has inscribed the photo, "To My Pal Tommy Farmer- Sincerely Yours Billy Wells." There are tack holes in the corners and there are small creases along the edges. Clean signature.
